Position Summary:

The Part Time (28 hours per week) Harrell Family Opportunity Center (HFOC) Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Opportunity Center’s students and providers.

The Program Assistant facilitates the operation of vocational training in the HFOC, and assists clients with developing their career paths and supporting clients with the successful completion of the training and finding employment.

This position is Monday to Thursday, and most Saturdays. (Hours 8:30 am – 3:00 pm; Sat 8:30 am – 1:30 pm)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support NAM THRIVE program and clients during their vocational training in the HFOC.
  • Assist instructors with logistical support in HFOC.
  • Act as a resource to clients for services inside NAM and with other organizations.
  • Assist in compiling statistical information and program reports, as directed.
  • Assist with coordinating the HFOC evaluation efforts.
  • Assist clients in overcoming barriers to completing training and in finding employment.
  • Assist clients in developing a personal career path model.
  • Assist in conducting follow-up with program participants at 6 months and 12 months post program completion.
  • Attend department staff meetings, staff events and NAM meetings as required.
  • Perform other departmental administrative duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Two years’ experience in adult education, human services, human resources or a closely related field.

Computer Skills:     

  • Intermediate computer skills required; including but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Word 2010/XP
  • Excel 2010/XP
  • PowerPoint 2010/XP
  • Outlook 2010/XP
  • Web-based research, and database data entry

Position Summary:

The Social Services Specialist is responsible for assisting clients who are accessing services from the front desk of the Assistance Department.  This position applies professionally accepted best practices in a client centered approach.  The Social Services Specialist checks clients in, assists in providing client services, makes referrals to internal/external resources, maintains client files, and answers the Assistance Department front desk phone.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide training to volunteers and interns as assigned to the Assistance Department front desk.
  • Require a detailed understanding of the important policies and procedures pertaining to the Assistance Department Front Desk.
  • Provide timely and accurate services to clients seeking assistance.

Position Summary:

Grant Management. This position works closely with Program Directors, the Grants Department, and government grant agency representatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Government grants administration, compliance and reporting.
  • Preparing financial information needed for grant applications and monthly expense allocations, as well as documentation requested during monitoring reviews by grant agencies.
  • Tracking expense variances to the approved grant budget to determine any necessary budget revision submissions.

Staff Therapist

Position Summary:

The Staff Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic services to adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The position will also supervise contract therapists who provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and Spanish-speaking clients. The Staff Therapist serves as the site supervisor for non-medical internships.  Position will be responsible for professionally interfacing with NAM staff, volunteers, clients, interns, community partners, as well as the FVC team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with adults/adolescents/child victims of family violence and sexual assault in individual, family, or group therapy
  • Supervision of contract therapists and therapist interns
  • Participate in case staffing/assessments meetings necessary to determine a client’s eligibility for therapy services
  • Availability to serve as the crisis intervention specialist, as needed, throughout NAM
  • Oversee the storage, maintenance, ordering, and inventory of all therapeutic supplies
  • Serve as site supervisor for social work, human service, and counseling student interns assigned to NAM
  • Develop working relationships with local institutions of higher learning to develop NAM’s internship program
  • Maintain regular communication with FVC Director regarding programming needs
  • Provide back-up support to the FVC Hotline to provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Periodic coverage of the FVC after-hours, on-call cell phone to provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Lead monthly review of assigned client files with case managers and volunteers, and interns; including review of file contents, service eligibility, client safety, client goals and referrals
  • Staffing client concerns with Key Staff (DV Services Coordinator, SA Services Coordinator, or FVC Director) including definition of problems, eligibility for services, and identifying appropriate referrals
  • Ensuring and protecting client confidentiality
  • Produce statistical and narrative reports, as required by NAM, FVC or funders
  • Operating within budgetary guidelines and in compliance with grant funding
  • Develop working relationships internally and with external agencies
  • Facilitating data entry in NAM’s database(s) and checking accuracy
  • Assisting in the training of new staff, volunteers, and student interns
  • Attending NAM and FVC staff meetings, staff events, community events, and fundraising activities as scheduled

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The FVC Staff Therapist is responsible for the direct supervision of contract therapists and intern therapists.  This responsibility includes, but it not limited, to FVC orientation, review of FVC standards and documentation, monthly file processing, and review therapeutic interventions.  Staff Therapist is also responsible for processing of contract therapy invoices and monitoring of related grant budgets.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • LCSW licensing is requirement, plus four to ten years related experience and/or training. Current State of Texas licensure is a requirement.
  • Prior experience working with victims/survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault is required.
