Position Summary:

This position is responsible for inputting client demographics and meal services provided into the state database, ensuring that all information is input correctly. Assist Program Coordinator in contacting and assigning volunteers for weekday meal service delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter client data and meal services into state database daily and assist in compiling monthly reports
  • Assist in contacting volunteers for weekday meal route delivery, assign volunteers to routes to ensure routes are fully staffed
  • Maintain a cohesive relationship with volunteers
  • Maintain client confidentiality and security of case information
  • Perform outcome evaluations as applicable.
  • Act as substitute meal driver for meal delivery if needed.
  • Ensure sanitation of related equipment is performed on assigned day.
  • Participate in all department staff meetings, staff events.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Some college required.
  • Prior experience working with seniors and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and public speaking.
  • Proficiency in software programs such as Excel, Word, and database software.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s License in addition to a good driving record and insurance.

Position summary:

The Social Services Specialist is responsible for assisting clients who are accessing services from the front desk of the Assistance Department.  This position applies professionally accepted best practices in a client centered approach.  The Social Services Specialist checks clients in, assists in providing client services, makes referrals to internal/external resources, maintains client files, and answers the Assistance Department front desk phone.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide training to volunteers and interns as assigned to the Assistance Department front desk.
  • Require a detailed understanding of the important policies and procedures pertaining to the Assistance Department Front Desk.
  • Provide timely and accurate services to clients seeking assistance.
  • Ability to de-escalate irritated clients and recognize when to forward client to a supervisor.
  • Keep records or prepare reports or data information regarding client calls or visits.
  • Provide information or refers individuals or families for assistance.
  • Advise clients about SNAP, utility, homeless referrals etc, opportunities.
  • Submit reports and reviews reports or problems with supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have dependable transportation, valid Texas Driver’s license and Insurance, clean driving record.

THRIVE Financial Coach

Position Summary:

The THRIVE Financial Coach is responsible for providing  financial coaching services to clients of the Learning Center who are unemployed or underemployed and, are part of the THRIVE program, and/or receiving NAM services.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide information in order to assist clients in resolving current financial situations, while building financial management skills for future stability in order to achieve their financial goals.
  • Work with clients to complete a very detailed financial assessment including: assist client in documenting a budget and provide strategies for budget improvements, help client access credit report/score, provide strategies for credit building, and document the client’s balance sheet and provide strategies for increasing net worth
  • Develop plans of actions and provide tools, resources, and accountability to the client to help them meet their goals
  • Understand other services offered by NAM, such as employment, basic needs, family violence counseling, and access to public benefits and connect the clients to these and to other services available through the THRIVE collaborative and other agencies.
  • Implement, coordinate and maintain documentation on the micro loan program.
  • Document client progress in Financial Coaching Workbooks and Client Track. Recording the outcome of clients accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Learning Center team to ensure that any changes to the client’s financial status, (i.e., new job, new benefit, credit score) is properly documented.
  • Coordinate monthly Financial Literacy classes and may conduct workshops as a means of outreach and education. These classes and workshops will be designed to meet the needs of the clients and community.  Workshop topics would be relevant to the mission of the Learning center, and may include topics such as: budgeting, savings, banking products, credit building, identity theft, and other financial matters.
  • Develop relationships with local financial institutions and community organizations in order to understand the needs of the community so that the program can provide products and services that fit the program.
  • Attend all regular United Way THRIVE partner meetings, NAM staff meetings, staff events and fundraising activities as required by the position.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evening or Saturdays may be required based on class or event schedules.
  • Create a network of referral organizations to help you assist the client meet his/her goals (e.g. THRIVE network, local housing counseling agency, legal aid, etc.)
  • Maintain client information appropriately with regard to confidentiality and HIPPA requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • “Microsoft Suite” particularly Word and Excel- required.

Bilingual Therapist (Contract)

Department: Family Violence Center

Responsible for:

  • Working with Spanish-speaking adult victims of family violence in individual and family counseling.
  • Working with child/adolescent victims of family violence in individual and group therapy.
  • Ability to define therapeutic approach for each client.
  • All intake assessments needed to determine a client’s eligibility for therapy services.
  • All record keeping, data collection, telephone calls and scheduling necessary for clients.
  • Storage, maintenance, ordering and inventory of all therapeutic supplies.
  • Maintaining regular communications with FVC Director and Staff Therapist regarding scheduling and programming needs.
  • Actively participate in a monthly processing meeting with other contract therapists, led by the FVC Staff Therapist.
  • Staff all cases with Staff Therapist and/or FVC Director, including definition of problems and determining appropriate referrals, when necessary.
  • Flexible work hours as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s level degree and licensure in counseling field (candidates that have completed clinical hours and prepared for exam will be considered)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Experience in working with adult and child/adolescent victims of domestic violence.
  • Skilled in working with play, sand and art therapy materials.
  • Skilled in utilizing appropriate treatment models for targeted populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to record keeping.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Proof of liability/malpractice insurance.
