OVAG Case Manager

Position Summary:

The OVAG Case Manager is responsible for providing support services to domestic violence victims/survivors.  Case management services will be provided through a client-centric model with a specific focus on client needs, community resources, and safety planning.  This position will be responsible for client services, professionally interacting with clients and community partners, and working as part of the Family Violence Center (FVC) client services team.  The position is funded solely by OVAG.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitating client access to FVC services, NAM services and outside agencies
  • Answering the FVC Hotline and provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Periodic coverage of the FVC after-hours, on-call cell phone to provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Conducting telephone and face-to-face client intake interviews to determine client needs, client eligibility for services, and develop client safety plan
  • Case management of assigned FVC client cases, including crisis interventions, assessments, and assisting clients to set appropriate goals or re-assess goals as needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

Position Summary:

The Communications Specialist is an integral member of our multidisciplinary Development/Marketing team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Behavioral Health Provider

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Provider is responsible for providing and documenting clinical behavioral services to people affected by hurricane Harvey in Northwest Houston and surrounding areas.  This position works under the supervision of the Director of Relief Services to further the overall mission of the organization by integrating individual and family counseling to clients accessing relief services at NAM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill behavioral health grant requirements outlined in the contract agreement between Mental Health America (MHA) of Greater Houston and Northwest Assistance Ministries in accordance with the funding provided by Kaiser Permanente.
  • Assist the Director in the delivery of evidence-based, community-level initiatives designed to increase appropriate referrals and teach congregational leaders how to deliver non-clinical behavioral health support to their congregations.
  • Provide behavioral health services to 200 unduplicated individuals and up to 1,000 units of duplicated clinical services.
  • Identify and connect individuals to ancillary services that address social determinants and other needs.
  • Utilize screening tools to assess client readiness for behavioral health services and track client’s progress and improvements.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Relief Services to identify, recruit, and train community members as Natural Helpers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Behavioral Health Provider has no direct supervisory requirements but may be tasked with overseeing the work of interns assigned to NAM.  Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: interviewing and assessing individuals and families for behavioral health services through time-limited counseling; making referrals to mental health specialists as appropriate; using a client-centered, strength-based approach for identifying support systems and strategies aimed at addressing symptoms associated with trauma and grief; working with clients to develop coping strategies that promote stress reduction and mental health wellness.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in social work or related field with a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based clinical models, behavioral health interventions and trauma informed therapy.
  • Licensed in Texas to provide clinical behavioral services, LCSW, LPC or LMFT preferred. Other licensed professionals will be considered:  LMSW and LMSW-AP

Language Skills:

Part-Time Billingual HLCM Program Assistant

Position Summary:

The Relief Data Entry Clerk position involves a variety of tasks related to maintaining databases by accurately entering new and updated client information. The position is responsible for managing client records, processing information and assessments, reviewing data errors, resolving inconsistencies, deleting unnecessary files, and combining data when needed. Position summary:

The Social Services Specialist is responsible for assisting clients who are accessing services from the front desk of the Assistance Department.  This position applies professionally accepted best practices in a client centered approach.  The Social Services Specialist checks clients in, assists in providing client services, makes referrals to internal/external resources, maintains client files, and answers the Assistance Department front desk phone.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide training to volunteers and interns as assigned to the Assistance Department front desk.
  • Require a detailed understanding of the important policies and procedures pertaining to the Assistance Department Front Desk.
  • Provide timely and accurate services to clients seeking assistance.
  • Ability to de-escalate irritated clients and recognize when to forward client to a supervisor.
  • Keep records or prepare reports or data information regarding client calls or visits.
  • Provide information or refers individuals or families for assistance.
  • Advise clients about SNAP, utility, homeless referrals etc, opportunities.
  • Submit reports and reviews reports or problems with supervisor.
  • Assist client with completing forms.

  • Identify community resources and supply that information to clients.
  • Proficient with the computer and Client Track.
  • Perform data entry, photo copy of documents for process of service.
  • Attend NAM staff meetings, staff events and fundraising activities as scheduled.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bilingual Therapist (Contract)

Department: Family Violence Center

Responsible for:

  • Working with Spanish-speaking adult victims of family violence in individual and family counseling.
  • Working with child/adolescent victims of family violence in individual and group therapy.
  • Ability to define therapeutic approach for each client.
  • All intake assessments needed to determine a client’s eligibility for therapy services.
  • All record keeping, data collection, telephone calls and scheduling necessary for clients.
  • Storage, maintenance, ordering and inventory of all therapeutic supplies.
  • Maintaining regular communications with FVC Director and Staff Therapist regarding scheduling and programming needs.
  • Actively participate in a monthly processing meeting with other contract therapists, led by the FVC Staff Therapist.
  • Staff all cases with Staff Therapist and/or FVC Director, including definition of problems and determining appropriate referrals, when necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s level degree and licensure in counseling field (candidates that have completed clinical hours and prepared for exam will be considered)

  • Skilled in working with play, sand and art therapy materials.
  • Skilled in utilizing appropriate treatment models for targeted populations.
