Position Summary:

Responsible for all Client service delivery at NAM.  Participates in strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, and grant applications, reporting, and compliance (government and private).  The Chief Program Officer Position has broad responsibility over program department Directors, program staff, programing, budgets, grant reporting/compliance, resources, volunteers and outcomes.  The Chief Program Officer is also responsible for leading all NAM programs and services to ensure client centric service delivery, required monthly statistical data are captured, and compliance is maintained in accordance with funder requirements. This position is a member of the NAM executive leadership team, interfaces with internal and external stakeholders including collaborative partners, funders, the Board of Trustees, the NAM Endowment Fund, and the Congregational Advisory Council.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills NAM’s mission and core values.
  • Actively participates as an integral member of the senior leadership team.
  • Represents the agency throughout the community: influences collaborative partners, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Leads implementation of new programs, transitions in current programs, and successful wind downs as needed.
  • Provides direct supervision to Program Directors and supports leadership skill building.
  • Guides onboarding, training, goal setting, and career development of program staff at every level.
  • Assists managers in the development and monitoring of performance measures and quality improvement.
  • Facilitates partnership between Grants Director, Finance team, and Program leaders developing annual program and grant budgets / reports as well as in reviewing and monitoring program and grant budgets and expenditures.
  • Assists Chief Financial Officer, Chief Advancement Officer and Grants team in assuring compliance with federal guidelines for all public grants.
  • Facilitates client surveys and conveys information to managers, funders and the senior leadership team.
  • Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures.
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth.
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision with a Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Oversee daily operations of the ministry and the work of Directors.
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
  • Assist CEO in fundraising ventures
  • Participate in expansion activities (collaborations, acquisitions, etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners.
  • Attending all  Board of Trustee’ meetings as a non-voting member.
  • Attending department staff meetings, staff events and fund raising functions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:    

The Chief Program Officer is responsible for the direct supervision of all the Program Directors.    This responsibility includes, but may not be limited to: hiring, routine supervision, evaluation, coaching, mentoring, disciplinary action, and termination of assigned staff.

Supervise the following department directors; oversee associated programs and staff:

  • Special Assistant
  • Assistance Director- Emergency Basic Needs, Interfaith Homeless Network, Housing Services, Disaster Relief and Joanne Watford Nutrition
  • Senior Services Director- Meals on Wheels, 50+ Activity Center, and 60+ café
  • The Children’s Clinic Director- Program staff and UT Physicians personnel
  • Family Violence Center Director
  • Learning Center Director
  • Other Program Service Positions (staff and volunteers)

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree preferred in related field or BA/BS degree required.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in nonprofit program administration and employee/volunteer management.
  • Must be a team player, energetic and have a heart for the faith based mission.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • This position requires some evening and weekend work.
  • Capacity to deal with multiple issues in detail, meet deadlines and work cohesively

THRIVE Specialist

Position Summary:

The THRIVE Specialist is responsible for providing career and educational counseling to clients who are unemployed or underemployed.  This position is responsible for program outcomes in scholarship awards and training completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet all agency, program, contract and grant requirements, and all reporting schedules and budgets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Conduct intake interviews and makes decisions regarding client eligibility and suitability for program according to United Way THRIVE grant and NAM policies.
  • Facilitate client’s access to NAM services and outside agencies.
  • Maintain client files, workbooks, expense spreadsheet and all relative paperwork in a correct and orderly manner.
  • Determine and develop individual vocational training plans so that clients will obtain stable employment and thereby, achieve self-sufficiency and financial stability within the household.
  • Operate within budgetary guidelines, ensure compliance with grant funding and provide reports to the proper authorities within the designated time frames as applicable.
  • Ensure and protect client confidentiality.
  • Facilitate data entry in NAM’s and other relevant databases as required and check accuracy.
  • Provide monthly reports for Learning Center Director in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attend all regular United Way THRIVE partner meetings, NAM staff meetings, staff events and fundraising activities as required by the position.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evening or Saturdays may be required based on class or event schedules.
  • Maintain client information appropriately with regard to confidentiality and HIPPA requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of adult learning, state education, certification requirements, and career development practices required.

Computer Skills:     

Intermediate computer skills required, including but may not be limited to:

  • Microsoft Suite, particularly Word and Excel
  • Internet search capability

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain composure through challenging customer interactions using active listening and self-management skills.
  • Proficiency at preparing and delivering presentations to large and small groups of individuals preferred. Experience with Human Resources practices specifically, Employment, Recruitment and/or Employee Relations. Experience with adult learning, state education and certification requirements.

Staff Therapist

Position Summary:

The Staff Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic services to adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The position will also supervise contract therapists who provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and Spanish-speaking clients. The Staff Therapist serves as the site supervisor for non-medical internships.  Position will be responsible for professionally interfacing with NAM staff, volunteers, clients, interns, community partners, as well as the FVC team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with adults/adolescents/child victims of family violence and sexual assault in individual, family, or group therapy
  • Supervision of contract therapists and therapist interns
  • Participate in case staffing/assessments meetings necessary to determine a client’s eligibility for therapy services
  • Availability to serve as the crisis intervention specialist, as needed, throughout NAM
  • Oversee the storage, maintenance, ordering, and inventory of all therapeutic supplies
  • Serve as site supervisor for social work, human service, and counseling student interns assigned to NAM
  • Develop working relationships with local institutions of higher learning to develop NAM’s internship program
  • Maintain regular communication with FVC Director regarding programming needs
  • Provide back-up support to the FVC Hotline to provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Periodic coverage of the FVC after-hours, on-call cell phone to provide telephone crisis counseling, crisis intervention, client assessment, and community referrals, as appropriate
  • Lead monthly review of assigned client files with case managers and volunteers, and interns; including review of file contents, service eligibility, client safety, client goals and referrals
  • Staffing client concerns with Key Staff (DV Services Coordinator, SA Services Coordinator, or FVC Director) including definition of problems, eligibility for services, and identifying appropriate referrals
  • Ensuring and protecting client confidentiality
  • Produce statistical and narrative reports, as required by NAM, FVC or funders
  • Operating within budgetary guidelines and in compliance with grant funding
  • Develop working relationships internally and with external agencies

The FVC Staff Therapist is responsible for the direct supervision of contract therapists and intern therapists.  This responsibility includes, but it not limited, to FVC orientation, review of FVC standards and documentation, monthly file processing, and review therapeutic interventions.  Staff Therapist is also responsible for processing of contract therapy invoices and monitoring of related grant budgets.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • LCSW licensing is requirement, plus four to ten years related experience and/or training. Current State of Texas licensure is a requirement.
  • Prior experience working with victims/survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault is required.
