The Better Business Bureau of Houston has evaluated Northwest Assistance Ministries in relation to the 20 Better Business Bureau Standards for Charitable Accountability and determined that NAM meets all of the standards.  In addition, NAM has received citywide attention and accreditation for its innovative efforts to provide families in need with a full range of services all under one roof and has been recognized by:

  • BBB Winner of Distinction – 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2009. In 2010, NAM received the Better Business Bureau Pinnacle Award for Excellence, the highest honor bestowed by the BBB.
  • NAM’s Children’s Clinic was awarded the Texas Children’s Health Plan’s 2015 Quality Award for Excellence in four domains of quality: well child care, adolescent well care, treatment of respiratory illness, and asthma.
  • NAM Children’s Clinic was recognized by a Houston area Medicaid HMO and awarded a 2014 Quality Award for excellence in 7 domains of quality care for Member Satisfaction, Well Child Care, Adolescent Well Care, Treatment of ADHD and Respiratory Illness.  It was highlighted that the clinic achieved rankings of Top 10% NATIONALLY in all areas and a Top 10% rating in the Houston area for Member Satisfaction. The clinic received a 2013 Quality Award for Member Satisfaction as well.
  • NAM’s Housing Services and Interfaith Hospitality Network were honored in 2014 by The Way Home Houston with a Shining Star Award for their work in homelessness prevention. NAM was one of five agencies honored in the Houston area.
  • NAM is featured in The Giving Library, a national database of select charities: www.givinglibrary.org.
  • NAM’s Interfaith Hospitality Network Director Karen Weakly honored with the 2010 Peg Dudar Award from the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston and Harris County.
  • NAM Children’s Clinic honored by the Texas Children’s Health Plan in 2010 for reducing the number of ER visits.
  • Winner of the 2010 Money Week Houston Benji Award for innovative and collaborative programs.
  • NAM President & CEO Carole Little honored with the 2010 Silver Slipper Award by We-WIN! For her promotion of volunteerism in the community.
  • Carole Little, NAM’s President/CEO, has been named as an advisor to the OneStar Foundation and to the Kellogg Foundation.
  • 2008 ImmTrac Award from the Texas State Health Services for the Children’s Clinic’s outstanding contribution to the Texas State Registry.
  • Winner of Distinction of the 2008 Better Business Bureau Award for Excellence.
  • Dr. Heather Moore, pediatrician for the NAM Children’s Clinic, honored with the 2007 St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities Community Health Leadership Award.
  • Spring Independent School District ABCD Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award (Hurricane Relief).
  • Klein Independent School District Friend of Freedom Award.
  • Independent Charities of America awarding their “Best In America” Seal.
  • The Maconda Brown O’Connor Spirit of Collaboration Award from the Greater Houston Collaboration for Children for efforts in collaboration to benefit Houston’s children.
  • The Texas Department of Health for achieving an immunization rate over 80%.
  • The Better Business Bureau for excellence in management.
  • Urban Harvest for establishing and maintaining a community garden for many years.
  • The National Society of Fund Raising Executives for NAM’s successful Circle of Friends fund-raising events.
  • The Governor’s Volunteer Awards for “outstanding achievement in the volunteer community.”
  • The National Council of Churches “for healing the brokenness in a community.”
  • Leadership Houston in the category of Futurism for the development of The Children’s Clinic and for Volunteerism for its Back-To-School project.
