Alicia is the mother of three children, two of whom have developmental differences and multiple health problems. She has struggled to find balance in pursuing an education to improve her job opportunities, supporting her family and being a single mother. 

She made the tough decision to quit her part-time job to take care of her special needs children. Fortunately, she knew about NAM and decided to apply for help. NAM was able to assist with rental and utility assistance for three months, food and clothing; while she continued her education. 

When Alicia received the news from NAM about the approval for assistance, she was moved to tears of happiness – because the help from NAM would not only keep her lights on and a roof over their head, but also ensure she is able to be present as a mother for her children, while continuing her education.

“NAM made my dreams happen, and I will be able graduate. I thought I was going to have to take time off from school. Thank you, NAM, for being the helping hand my family needed.”

One of Alicia’s children sadly passed away, but she is a fighter and is determined to be there for her other children. She is going to school to be a Medical Tech and will be graduating in early Fall.
